"New Silent Hill Game: Enjoyable for All, Says Konami"

by Isaac May 22,2025

Silent Hill f is a standalone addition to the Silent Hill series, not a sequel to any of the existing titles. According to publisher Konami's statement on X/Twitter, this new installment will feature a completely independent story, making it accessible even to those unfamiliar with the series. Unlike the typical setting in a small American resort town, Silent Hill f transports players to 1960s Japan, offering a fresh narrative experience.

The game follows the journey of Shimizu Hinako, a teenager grappling with the pressures of her social environment. The story, penned by Ryukishi07, known for the When They Cry visual novel series, promises a deep and engaging plot. As showcased in the Japanese-language reveal trailer from March, Silent Hill f marks a significant milestone as the first Silent Hill game to receive an 18+ rating certification in Japan.

While still in development, Silent Hill f is rated Mature in the U.S., PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO:Z in Japan, setting it apart from previous entries like Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill: The Room, which were rated CERO:C for ages 15 and older. Other games in the series developed outside Japan typically received CERO:C or CERO:D ratings (ages 17+).

Although Silent Hill f does not yet have a release date, it continues the tradition of standalone stories within the series, similar to Silent Hill 2. This approach allows each game to explore unique themes and settings, with Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill Origins being more directly connected, and others like Silent Hill 4: The Room and Homecoming venturing outside the titular town.

Meanwhile, no additional information has been released about No Code's upcoming Silent Hill game, Townfall.
