The captivating PC game, Timelie, has now made its way to Android in early access, bringing its unique charm and intricate mechanics to mobile gamers. This stealth puzzle adventure immerses you in the roles of a young girl with precognitive abilities and her charming cat companion, navigating a world filled with evil robots.
In Timelie, you're thrust into a time-bending stealth puzzle where your mission is to outwit and evade menacing robots. The gameplay revolves around sneaking past enemies, solving complex puzzles, and manipulating time to your advantage. You can pause, rewind, and fast-forward time to strategize the perfect sequence of actions, allowing you to progress forward or even backward through the game's challenges.
Your goal is to outsmart the robots that are determined to thwart your escape. The game's atmosphere and interactions help you piece together the narrative and gameplay mechanics. You control both the girl and her cat simultaneously, requiring you to coordinate their movements to avoid detection. The cat can serve as a distraction, enabling the girl to sneak past obstacles, adding a layer of strategic depth to the gameplay.
One of Timelie's standout features is its approach to failure. Instead of restarting from scratch, you can simply drag the timeline back and attempt a different strategy, making the experience less frustrating and more engaging for players of stealth puzzle games.
The cat isn't just a distraction; it can access areas the girl can't reach, though sometimes it behaves like a typical cat, adding both charm and challenge to the dynamic between the two characters.
The game's difficulty progresses cleverly, starting with basic mechanics and timing, and evolving into more complex scenarios where synchronizing the movements of both characters without triggering alarms becomes crucial. Additionally, some levels feature optional hidden challenges called relics, which add an extra layer of reward for dedicated players.
Timelie's world is brought to life with vibrant, abstract visuals that transform even an abandoned complex into a lively setting. The game's art style, colors, and context blend seamlessly, making it visually appealing enough for some players to enjoy it purely for its aesthetics.
Snapbreak is responsible for the mobile version, while Urnique Studio originally developed the game. You can download Timelie from the Google Play Store and experience Act 1 for free.
