Split Fiction Hits 2 Million Sales After Just 1 Week

Hazelight Games' cooperative adventure game, Split Fiction, is enjoying a phenomenal launch, selling 2 million copies in its first week. Released on March 6th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, the dual-protagonist story quickly became another triumph for the studio. Hazelight celebrated this success on social media, expressing their astonishment at the overwhelming support from both new and returning fans.

Just 48 hours after launch, Split Fiction had already reached 1 million players experiencing Mio and Zoe's sci-fi narrative. An additional million copies were sold in the following five days, highlighting the game's rapid growth in popularity.

The game's cooperative nature means the actual player count is significantly higher than the number of copies sold. This is further amplified by the Friend's Pass feature, allowing one player to purchase the game and grant free access to a friend. With continued social media buzz, the 2 million sales figure is expected to climb.

Hazelight's previous title, It Takes Two (2021 Game of the Year winner), saw comparable success, selling approximately 1 million copies within weeks of its March 2021 launch. This number soared to 10 million by February 2023 and an impressive 20 million by October 2024.

IGN's review of Split Fiction praised it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another."
