The highly anticipated Splitgate 2 Open Alpha Playtest launched during Sony's February 2025 State of Play event, running from February 27th to March 3rd, 2025. This marked a major expansion from last year's PC-only Closed Alpha, as the Open Alpha became available across PC (via Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Players could jump in without any restrictions—no registration was needed. Developer announcements revealed this playtest introduced fresh battlegrounds, enhanced armaments, innovative game modes, and even a massive 24-player multiplayer mode (8v8v8).

Splitgate 2 Closed Alpha Playtest

Splitgate 2's initial Closed Alpha Playtest wrapped up on August 25, 2024 after running from August 21st. Access was limited to selected participants who received invitations or unlocked Alpha keys—either by clicking "Request Access" on Steam or earning Twitch Drops after watching partnered streams for two hours.

Though this first testing phase was PC-exclusive, the development team confirmed future Alpha tests in 2025 will include cross-platform support spanning PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
