Starfield Skips Xbox Event, Worrying Fans

The Xbox Games Showcase saw several notable absences this year. State of Decay 3 was nowhere to be seen, while the Perfect Dark reboot failed to make an appearance. However, Starfield's continued absence stings the most - especially for its dedicated fanbase.

Despite hopes for new announcements, Bethesda gave no updates whatsoever about Starfield during the event. While The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76 received attention, Starfield was completely overlooked - no DLC news, no expansion details, no PlayStation 5 port announcement.

The Starfield community is understandably frustrated with Bethesda's prolonged silence, with many feeling increasingly disillusioned about the game's future.

This frustration is spilling over into Bethesda's unrelated social media posts. Recently, a Fallout 76 interview announcement triggered replies questioning Starfield's status: "Why abandon Starfield?", "Is Starfield dead?", "I'm uninstalling - tired of waiting," and similar sentiments flooded the comments.

Some optimistic voices speculate Bethesda might surprise-drop Starfield news later, similar to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered's unannounced April release (which attracted over 4 million players). If this is Bethesda's new strategy, Starfield updates could still arrive unexpectedly.

The Starfield community now scrutinizes Bethesda's past statements for any hint of hope. Launched in September 2023 as Bethesda's first original IP in 25 years, Starfield didn't achieve the same acclaim as Fallout or The Elder Scrolls. The Shattered Space expansion (September 2024) currently holds a 'mostly negative' Steam rating.

Despite reaching 15 million players, speculation persists that Bethesda may prioritize other franchises. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to Starfield, promising at least another story expansion post-Shattered Space. Todd Howard also told MrMattyPlays they hoped to deliver annual story expansions "for hopefully a very long time."

The question remains: will Bethesda honor these promises? For now, Starfield fans continue waiting.
