However, NBCUniversal was swift to amend the press release, removing all references to Mario. This move was captured and shared on social media platforms, sparking discussions and speculation about the validity of the title.

The original press release listed "Super Mario World, Shrek, and Minions," suggesting that Shrek and Minions refer to Shrek 5 and Minions 3, respectively. This raises the possibility that "Super Mario World" might not be the final title of the Mario sequel but rather a placeholder or umbrella term. After all, the next Shrek movie isn't just called "Shrek," and the next Minions movie isn't simply titled "Minions."

Despite this, "Super Mario World" is a more specific title than just "Super Mario" or "Super Mario Bros.," which lends some credibility to its potential use. Given the context and history of the Mario franchise, "Super Mario World" as the title for the next Mario movie would indeed be fitting.
