Transformers Gameplay Unveiled Despite Cancellation

Summary

Cancelled Transformers: Reactivate gameplay footage has re-emerged online following the game's recent cancellation announcement. The co-op title, revealed by Splash Damage in 2022, was slated to feature Generation 1 Autobots and Decepticons uniting against an alien threat.

Limited gameplay previews existed prior to the cancellation, mainly through leaks and a few related action figures. The cancellation, leaving some staff potentially redundant, redirected Splash Damage towards other projects.

Recently, leaked footage from a 2020 build surfaced, showcasing Bumblebee's gameplay. The footage depicts Bumblebee navigating a destroyed city, seamlessly transforming between robot and vehicle modes, and utilizing various weapons. The style is reminiscent of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, but pits Bumblebee against "the Legion," the game's intended alien antagonists.

Despite some unfinished textures, the leaked footage presents a polished look, including environmental destruction. An incomplete, silent cutscene concludes the clip, showing Bumblebee emerging from a portal near the ruins of New York City, communicating with an ally named Devin about the Legion's attacks.

Numerous other leaks, dating back to 2020, predate the official announcement and cancellation. While the game itself is unavailable, these leaks offer a glimpse into Splash Damage's vision for this ambitious, yet ultimately unsuccessful, multiplayer Transformers project.
