These are some early game insights that would have saved us considerable time and frustration.

Avoid Unprovoked Player Attacks

Initial concerns about Rune Slayer's full-loot PvP proved largely unfounded. Death doesn't result in item loss, regardless of the killer. However, attacking players incurs a bounty. The higher the bounty, the more loot you drop upon death. Therefore, avoid attacking unless strategically advantageous or backed by a group.

Craft Bags Immediately

Inventory and bank space are severely limited. Fortunately, crafting bags expands capacity. The initial Cotton Bag provides 10 extra slots. Gather Cotton north of Wayshire and Flax south (be cautious of southern mobs) to craft these essential items immediately.

Pet Deaths are Temporary

Contrary to popular belief, pets don't die permanently. After reaching zero health, they have a 5-minute summon cooldown. Check this cooldown by pressing "T." Storing and retrieving your pet at the stable master provides a quick heal.

Accept All Quests

Rune Slayer boasts a plethora of quests, most non-repeatable and fairly standard "kill X" tasks. To streamline progress, accept every quest encountered, including those from the job board. Often, multiple quests can be completed simultaneously.

Craft Everything At Least Once

Prioritize crafting necessary items. However, using spare materials to craft even unneeded items often unlocks new, superior crafting recipes. Experimentation is key.

Join a Guild

While Rune Slayer is solo-friendly, tougher enemies require group coordination. Guilds provide the easiest way to find groups for challenging encounters. Use general chat or the official Rune Slayer Discord server to find a guild.
