Dead Sails Kraken Boss Guide Dead Sails Kraken Tips And Tricks How to Defeat the Kraken Boss in Dead Sails
You'll find yourself starting in the heart of town, across from the Gun Store and Hospital and in front of the Trading Hut. First, lighten your load by selling any excess loot and then arm yourself. A Rifle is my top recommendation; it's only $75 and packs enough punch to fend off most enemies temporarily. Don't forget to purchase coal to fuel your boat—it's an old-school engine, after all.
The next town is 10,000m away. Start your engine and set sail. While you can stop to engage and loot Zombies and Drowned, it's not always worthwhile due to the sparse valuables in the roadside houses. To restart the ship, simply add more coal. Ignore the worm on the right side for now. Wait until you reach the second safe zone to sell your loot, but stay vigilant for Big Foot and Zombie mobs along the riverbanks.
After the second safe zone/town, you'll encounter burning buildings teeming with mobs. Clear them out if you're with friends, but solo players might find it inefficient due to scattered spawn points. At around 12,000m, you'll find a castle-like house filled with Drowned and valuable loot like Shotgun ammo. Use these resources wisely.
The core gameplay loop is straightforward: kill, loot, repeat, and hope for enemy defeat. To excel, focus on efficiency by using your boat as your primary inventory. Empty your bag upon returning to save time and space.
A key strategy I found effective is stacking Zombies near the incinerator. While it's tempting to rush out of these towns, efficient loot stacking can significantly boost your progress. Running low on fuel? Toss a few Zombies into the incinerator and you're set.
Another useful tip is to be cautious in Sheriff's offices. These areas often have a higher concentration of mobs but also offer substantial rewards in weapons and ammo. I managed to keep my shotgun stocked by having a friend clear the ground floor while we explored each town.
Conserve your ammo, weapons, fuel, and medkits for the fortress at 25,000m. It's still under construction, making it a prime spot for ambushes. I recommend tackling this with at least three others, ideally a full five-person team. Be efficient when collecting loot.
Avoid engaging Big Feet after 30,000m; they're tough, hit hard, and require a lot of ammo to defeat safely. Plan your stops carefully—loot isn't everything.
The town after 50,000m is one of my favorite farming spots. With at least two dozen Drowned and Zombies, it's perfect for those with Shotguns or Sawnoffs. It's also an efficient way to gather corpses for fuel, so coordinate with your team to prepare bodies for loading quickly.
Before facing the Kraken, sell all your loot in the final safe zone and stock up on ammo, weapons, and medkits. Don't underestimate the Zombies and Drowned—ensure you have a stash of at least 8-10 corpses for fuel during the final stretch. At around 100,000m, you'll reach open waters and be ready to confront the beast. The sign of its approach is the skies darkening.
As the Kraken emerges, everyone must target a tentacle. The boss has substantial health, and each tentacle can attack if not properly repelled. With five players, form a pentagram-like shape and focus on your assigned tentacle.
Watch out for the water splash ability, which causes AoE damage. It's telegraphed by the Kraken winding back and creating a water trail with its tentacle. Use medkits liberally, as some damage is unavoidable.
Lastly, be cautious of the Roar AoE, which inflicts minor damage and seems to slightly buff the boss's damage. You'll see it as white concentric circles emanating from the tentacle.
As you can see, the challenge is less daunting than it appears. That concludes my Dead Sails Kraken Guide. To speed through the boss fight even faster, consider using one of our Dead Sails codes. Best of luck and smooth sailing!
