Garland's goal is to capture the essence of Elden Ring's epic world and thrilling action in a live-action format.

The film will be produced by a powerhouse team including Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich from DNA Films, alongside George R. R. Martin, the creator of A Song of Ice and Fire, and Vince Gerardis, a co-executive producer of Game of Thrones. While it's unclear if FromSoftware president and Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki will be involved, fans are eagerly awaiting more details about the plot and cast.

Elden Ring Coming Off Strong This 2025

As we anticipate the live-action film, the Elden Ring video game franchise continues to thrive with new releases in 2025. Since its debut in 2022, Elden Ring has become a phenomenon, selling over 13.4 million copies within just five weeks of launch. By April 2025, the game had sold a staggering 30 million copies worldwide, a testament to its enduring popularity. The game has also garnered over 324 Game of the Year awards, making it one of the most decorated titles in gaming history. The 2024 DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, further solidified its acclaim.

FromSoftware is set to expand the Elden Ring universe even further this year. The first new release, Elden Ring Nightreign, is a co-op action game set in the realm of Limveld. Players will assume the roles of Nightfarers, tasked with thwarting the rise of the Nightlord. This spinoff will retain familiar elements from the original game while offering a fresh multiplayer co-op experience. Nightreign is slated for release on May 30th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Additionally, the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition will launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This complete edition will include the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, along with four new armor sets and a customization feature for three variants of Torrent the Spectral Steed. Although not a launch title for the console, fans can look forward to experiencing Elden Ring on the Switch 2 later this year.
