Elden Ring: Nightreign will remove the in-game messaging feature, a decision explained by project director Junya Ishizaki. Due to the game's approximately forty-minute play sessions, Ishizaki stated there's insufficient time for players to leave or read messages.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there isn't enough time to send or read messages; thus, we disabled the feature," Ishizaki clarified.
This choice is noteworthy given FromSoftware's history of incorporating message-based interaction into their games, a feature often praised for enhancing player experience and community engagement. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To preserve the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features an independent storyline. The game will, however, deliver a fresh adventure with unique challenges and encounters, while retaining the atmospheric richness and complexity of the Elden Ring world.
