Alicia Silverstone Returns for Clueless Sequel Series

As if they could resist bringing back Alicia Silverstone in that iconic yellow and plaid. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a new Clueless sequel series, slated for Peacock.

According to Variety, the series is in development, though plot specifics remain under wraps. What we do know is that Silverstone will return, and the show will continue the narrative from the original 1995 film. This project differs from the Clueless spin-off Peacock had in the works back in 2020.

The creative team behind the series includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for co-creating the original Gossip Girl and executive producing its reboot, alongside writer Jordan Weiss. They will also serve as executive producers, joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are on board to produce.

This isn't the first time Clueless has made the leap to television. Following the film's success, a TV adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone's recent return to her Clueless character in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten suggests she's eager to dive back into Cher's world. And honestly, who can blame her?
