Mackenyu Arata as Gennojo

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Character Will Be Played by One Piece Star Mackenyu Arata

Known for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in the One Piece live-action series, Mackenyu will provide both the Japanese and English voice acting for Gennojo in Assassin's Creed Shadows. Set in feudal Japan, the game will feature Gennojo as a pivotal character assisting the protagonist in eliminating a critical target.

Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a captivating and complex figure: "a charming, reckless, and deeply conflicted individual, driven by guilt to dismantle a corrupt system. He’s a flirtatious rogue and a trickster, balancing wit, deceit, and swagger." His strong sense of justice, particularly concerning the vulnerable, fuels his willingness to risk everything for his cause.

While the precise point of Gennojo's introduction remains undisclosed, his significance to the game's missions is confirmed. Mackenyu himself reveals Gennojo's affiliation with the "Shinobi League" and hints at the possibility of recruiting him as a companion throughout the player's journey.
