Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's 2020 hit, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by the part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles Frenken's original vision for Herodom.
Battledom features flexible RTS battle mechanics, allowing players to freely maneuver units across the game map. Players will directly target enemies and manually operate siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations add another layer of depth to combat.
Players will use in-game currency to recruit units, initially equipped with only basic weapons and no armor. However, extensive customization options allow for equipping units with a variety of weapons and armor pieces, each impacting stats such as range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
Resource gathering and crafting are key elements of gameplay. Players will need to collect resources like wood, leather, and coal to craft items at various workshops within their village, such as the blacksmith or magician's shop.
Frenken is widely recognized for Herodom, currently holding a 4.6-star rating on the App Store. This tower defense game features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically inspired battles. Progression unlocks new hairstyles, body types, crops, and animals for the player's in-game farm.
Interested players can participate in the Battledom alpha test by downloading TestFlight on their iOS device. For the latest updates and information, follow Sander Frenken on X (formerly Twitter) or Reddit. You can also explore Frenken's other games on the App Store.
