For years, Bloodborne fans have eagerly awaited a remastered version of FromSoftware's acclaimed title. Recent Instagram activity has only fueled this fervent speculation.
Bloodborne, a critically lauded RPG released in 2015, holds a special place in many gamers' hearts. The desire to revisit Yharnam on modern consoles is widespread. While no official announcement has been made, recent Instagram posts from FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia featuring the game have sent ripples of excitement through the community.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three evocative images showcasing the game, along with the hashtag "#bloodborne." One image depicted Djura, a memorable hunter encountered in Old Yharnam. The others highlighted the Hunter exploring Yharnam's heart and the chilling graveyards of Charnel Lane.
While these posts might seem like a simple nostalgic gesture, dedicated Bloodborne fans on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) have meticulously examined every detail, searching for clues hinting at a remaster. The timing, especially with a similar post from PlayStation Italia on August 17th, has only amplified the anticipation.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location, further stoking the flames of speculation. Many comments expressed a strong desire for a Yharnam return, with some playfully suggesting a PC or modern console release as the most iconic location of all.
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne has cultivated a fiercely loyal fanbase. Its critical acclaim and status as one of gaming's greatest titles have only intensified the frustration over the lack of a sequel or remaster.
Fans often cite the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally released in 2009) as a precedent for a Bloodborne revival. However, the lengthy wait for the Demon's Souls remake casts a shadow of uncertainty. With Bloodborne's tenth anniversary approaching, the anticipation is palpable.
Fuel was added to the fire in a February interview with Eurogamer, where director Hidetaka Miyazaki acknowledged the potential advantages of remastering Bloodborne for modern hardware, emphasizing increased accessibility for a wider audience.
Despite Miyazaki's encouraging comments, the final decision rests with Sony, not FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, Bloodborne's IP is owned by Sony, limiting FromSoftware's ability to comment directly on a potential remaster.
The passionate Bloodborne community continues to hope for a remaster. Despite the game's success, its availability remains limited to PS4. Only time will tell if the current speculation translates into reality.
