Attention all music lovers: Spotify, the popular music streaming service, experienced a widespread outage this morning. According to Downdetector, a site that tracks online service disruptions, reports of Spotify outages started pouring in around 6 a.m. PT today. Throughout the morning, many users, including ourselves, were unable to access the service. Even when we managed to open the app, it failed to play music.
Spotify has officially acknowledged the issue and is actively working to resolve it. They've also debunked rumors suggesting that the outage was caused by a security hack. Spotify's official statement on X (formerly Twitter) clarifies the situation:
We are aware of the outage and working to resolve it as soon as possible. The reports of this being a security hack are false.
