Sony's recent State of Play showcased Days Gone Remastered, but its $10 upgrade policy has sparked controversy among PlayStation Plus subscribers. The $10 upgrade to the PS5 remaster is only available to those who purchased the PlayStation 4 version (disc or digital). This excludes those who acquired Days Gone through PS Plus, either via the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or the April 2021 Essential monthly games. These players must pay the full $49.99 price.
This decision has prompted backlash on online forums like the PlayStation Plus subreddit. Many subscribers express their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade but will now skip the game entirely, highlighting potential lost revenue for Sony. Some commenters point out that Sony could have earned significant additional revenue by including PS Plus users in the upgrade offer, even if only a small percentage took advantage.
Days Gone Remastered wasn't the only game announced at the February 2025 State of Play. For a complete overview of the announcements, see IGN's State of Play February 2025 roundup.
