"Dead by Daylight Unveils Authentic Five Nights at Freddy's Gameplay in New Chapter"

Behaviour Interactive has provided an exciting preview of its new Killer, Springtrap, and how his unique abilities will resonate with Five Nights at Freddy’s fans in Dead by Daylight when the game launches on June 17, 2025. In a detailed discussion with IGN, Behaviour shared insights into Springtrap's powers, inspired by the classic Five Nights at Freddy’s game, ahead of today's public test build (PTB) for the upcoming Chapter.

This anticipated horror crossover is set to be one of the most significant additions to Dead by Daylight yet, largely due to Springtrap, known in the game as The Animatronic. This menacing, axe-wielding yellow rabbit, a staple in Five Nights at Freddy’s lore, has never been a playable character before, giving Behaviour the creative liberty to redefine his role in this new context.

View 7 ImagesSpringtrap wields a giant pizza knife as his primary weapon and a fire axe for his special Power. The fire axe serves as a powerful AOE tool, revealing Survivors to the Killer. If thrown skillfully, it can stick in a Survivor’s back, setting the stage for a chilling Five Nights at Freddy’s-style jump scare when Springtrap removes it.

Enhancing the crossover experience, the game features the voice and likeness of Five Nights at Freddy’s movie star Matthew Lillard for The Animatronic’s Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Additional outfits for Springtrap include the Legendary Glitchtrap, and the Very Rare Clown Springtrap and Toxic Springtrap, along with Freddy Fazbear’s t-shirts for Survivors.

While Springtrap is a thrilling addition, he's only part of the new Chapter's offerings. The absence of a new Survivor is offset by the introduction of the Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria map. This map brings a faithful yet twisted recreation of the famous pizza restaurant, complete with The Entity's unique touches.

Key areas in the new map include the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room, and Dining Hall, where players can encounter Freddy’s band members, Bonnie and Chica. Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria not only serves as a new, eerie playground for Dead by Daylight players but also includes its own set of Easter Eggs and jump scares.

These features not only enhance immersion but also allow Survivors to track Springtrap, provided they manage their battery power wisely.
