In the highly anticipated sequel, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (DS2), players will have the groundbreaking option to bypass boss fights without engaging in combat. During the April 14 episode of the Koji Pro radio broadcasts, DS2 Director Hideo Kojima unveiled this feature designed to assist players who may struggle with boss encounters.

Kojima detailed that if players choose to press "continue" on the game over screen after a failed boss fight, they can opt-out of combat. Instead, the game will present them with images and text descriptions akin to a visual novel, ensuring they don't miss out on crucial narrative elements related to the boss fight.
