Insider Jez Corden, during the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast, mentioned that the release of State of Decay 3 should be expected only in 2026.
The developers of the zombie action game from Undead Labs had reportedly planned to release it in 2025, but their intentions may have changed. According to Corden, the game is now expected to launch in early 2026.
The insider added that the development of the game has progressed much further than it might have seemed from the outside. However, he didn’t share any additional details on the matter.
Such a statement will likely disappoint fans of the franchise, but on the other hand, earlier information suggested a release in 2027. Given this, a 2026 release seems somewhat more optimistic.
The latest trailer for the sequel was released in June of this year, showcasing gunfights with the walking dead and post-apocalyptic vehicles in the style of the Mad Max franchise.
The game’s story will unfold many years after the apocalypse began, when humans are forced to build secure settlements to fight off the undead.
The game is being developed for PC and Xbox Series. The sequel's release took place back in 2018.
