The developers of The Witcher 4 have issued a stern warning to fans about a circulating beta test invite scam. Dive into CD Projekt Red's official statement on this matter and their bold move to feature Ciri as the main protagonist in The Witcher 4.
The Witcher 4's developer, CD Projekt Red, has taken to social media to alert players about a fraudulent beta test invite scam. On April 16, they posted on The Witcher's official Twitter (X) account, addressing reports from the community about receiving fake invitations to a beta test for The Witcher 4.
The statement emphasized, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using."
CD Projekt Red assured fans that any future beta tests would be announced first through The Witcher's official channels.
The Witcher 4 was unveiled to the world during the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer that introduced Ciri as the game's protagonist. This announcement sparked widespread discussion within the gaming community, especially since Geralt had been the central figure in the previous three games.
In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4's Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, addressed the fan reactions to Ciri taking the lead role. Weber, who also cherished playing as Geralt, reassured fans that the team is committed to addressing their concerns in upcoming reveals.
Weber stated, "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."
The Witcher 4's Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, expressed appreciation for the support received regarding Ciri's new role. He remarked, "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released."
The developers have promised that The Witcher 4 will be the most ambitious installment yet, introducing new regions and monsters. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific release date has not been announced. Stay tuned to our updates for the latest news on The Witcher 4!
