This review is based on a screening at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. The film, while visually stunning, ultimately falls short of its ambitious narrative goals. The cinematography is breathtaking, capturing the stark beauty of the Icelandic landscape with a masterful touch. However, the plot, while intriguing in its initial premise, becomes increasingly convoluted and loses its way in a labyrinth of underdeveloped subplots. The performances are uneven; while the lead actor delivers a compelling portrayal of a character grappling with internal conflict, the supporting cast feels underutilized and their motivations remain unclear. The pacing is also a significant issue, with long stretches of visually arresting but narratively inert sequences that fail to advance the story. Despite its technical merits, the film's narrative shortcomings prevent it from achieving its full potential. A promising start ultimately gives way to a frustratingly unsatisfying conclusion.
