by George Oct 03,2025

F1 The Movie made a high-speed debut at the box office, accelerating to a $55.6 million opening in the domestic market and $88.4 million internationally, resulting in a commanding global launch of $144 million. In contrast, M3GAN 2.0 stumbled out of the gate with a worldwide debut of just $17.158 million, a notable drop compared to the success of its predecessor.

F1 The Movie, featuring Brad Pitt performing real high-speed driving in actual F1 cars, stands out as a major box office success for Apple. The film is on track to surpass Apple’s earlier theatrical releases, including critically acclaimed titles like Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and Ridley Scott’s Napoleon.

IGN awarded F1: The Movie a solid 7/10, praising its execution: “F1: The Movie follows the sports movie playbook almost perfectly, finding ways to be just that much better at nearly every stage of its 156-minute runtime — creating a super fun racecar flick in the process that eventually finds its way to victory lane.”

PlayBlumhouse’s M3GAN 2.0 earned $10.2 million domestically and $6.958 million internationally during its opening weekend. The underwhelming performance suggests the original 2022 release— which went on to gross $180 million globally—may have been a one-of-a-kind phenomenon.

M3GAN 2.0 received a 6/10 from IGN, with reviewers noting: “M3GAN 2.0 hotswaps horror for sci-fi/action to mixed results, but M3GAN’s absolutely heinous wit and killer moves leave her, and not the new genres, the star of the show.”

PlayMeanwhile, *28 Years Later* has reached $103 million globally after two weekends, marking the highest-grossing start in the franchise. The live-action adaptation of *How To Train Your Dragon* continues its strong performance with a global total of $454.436 million. Pixar’s *Elio*, which suffered the worst opening in the studio’s history, remains sluggish, totaling just $72.3 million after two weekends.

Disney, however, is celebrating the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake, which has amassed $946 million worldwide after six weekends. With school holidays approaching, the film is poised to cross the billion-dollar milestone.

Additional box office highlights include Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning at $561.99 million globally after six weekends, Karate Kid: Legends surpassing $100 million, Final Destination Bloodlines at $283.3 million, and Sinners reaching $368 million.
