Get ready for a delicious crossover! Genshin Impact and McDonald's are teaming up for a collaboration, hinted at through a series of playful and cryptic social media posts. The fast-food giant initiated the interaction with a tweet prompting fans to decipher a "quest" via a unique phone number. Genshin Impact responded with a humorous meme featuring Paimon sporting a McDonald's hat, confirming the partnership.
Further fueling speculation, Genshin Impact's official account shared a cryptic image featuring in-game items whose initials subtly spelled out "McDonald's." McDonald's social media profiles subsequently adopted Genshin-themed elements, explicitly mentioning a "new quest" launching September 17th.
This collaboration isn't entirely unexpected. Genshin Impact boasts a history of successful partnerships, ranging from video game collaborations (like Horizon: Zero Dawn) to real-world brands (including Cadillac). Previous collaborations with fast-food chains, such as KFC in China, have resulted in exclusive in-game items and limited-edition merchandise.
This McDonald's collaboration holds the potential for a wider global reach than some previous partnerships. Unlike the China-only KFC collaboration, hints on McDonald's US Facebook page suggest a broader international rollout.
While details remain scarce, the collaboration promises exciting possibilities. Will we see Teyvat-themed meals? Unique in-game rewards? The full extent of the partnership will be revealed on September 17th.
