The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 2 continues, as comments from the head of Rockstar's parent company suggest that marketing materials will be released closer to the game's launch window. Rockstar released GTA 6 Trailer 1 to record-breaking viewership in December 2023, but since then, fans have been left in the dark, fueling a 15-month wait filled with wild conspiracy theories about the release of the next trailer.
These theories have ranged from counting the holes in Lucia’s cell door net and bullet holes in the car from Trailer 1 to analyzing registration plates. The most notable theory, the ongoing moon watch, accurately predicted the announcement date for GTA 6 Trailer 1 but was debunked as a hint at the release date for Trailer 2.
The burning question remains: when will GTA 6 Trailer 2 be released? According to Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick in a recent Bloomberg interview, fans might have to wait until much closer to the game's anticipated release date in fall 2025. Zelnick emphasized the importance of maintaining anticipation and excitement, stating, "The anticipation for that title may be the greatest anticipation I’ve ever seen for an entertainment property... We want to maintain the anticipation and the excitement."
Zelnick's strategy of releasing marketing materials close to the release window aims to balance excitement with unmet anticipation, a tactic that former Rockstar developers like Mike York have acknowledged. York, who worked on Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, explained on his YouTube channel that Rockstar's silence fuels speculation and community engagement. "They're reaching and pulling and trying to come up with these really cool theories to decipher when the next trailer will be," he said, highlighting how Rockstar's secretive approach creates allure and mystery.
As fans eagerly await more news, they can explore IGN's coverage on various related topics, including an ex-Rockstar dev's opinion on potential delays for GTA 6, Strauss Zelnick's thoughts on the future of GTA Online post-GTA 6 release, and expert analysis on whether the PS5 Pro can run GTA 6 at 60 frames per second.
