The Chinese game developer miHoYo, along with its global subsidiary HoYoverse, has applied for a trademark named "Honkai Nexus Anima." While details about this new IP remain scarce, the name hints at it being the third installment in the Honkai series, following Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail.

The application for Honkai Nexus Anima was initially spotted on the Korea Intellectual Property Information Search’s (KIPRIS) website, though it was later removed. However, the U.S. trademark filing is still accessible on the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) website.

The Honkai series began with Honkai Impact 3rd, a free-to-play mobile action RPG that served as a spiritual successor to Houkai Gakuen 2, a 2D side-scrolling shooter. Subsequently, Honkai Star Rail was released in 2023, another free-to-play mobile game but with turn-based gameplay.

Despite sharing themes related to space and some character similarities, each game operates in its own universe with unique storylines. Fans are speculating that Honkai Nexus Anima might continue this trend, potentially introducing a new genre, considering miHoYo’s varied portfolio.

miHoYo Recent Job Postings

Earlier this year, miHoYo released several job listings hinting at their ongoing projects. According to reports from GosuGamers, citing @chibi0108 on Twitter, they are developing an "auto-chess" game featuring "Destined Spirits." Although these job listings are no longer directly accessible, speculation has linked Honkai Nexus Anima to this auto-chess game.

While HoYoverse has not officially confirmed these speculations or announced the game, fans are optimistic about its potential success, given miHoYo’s impressive track record with titles like Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero.
