Lazarus is a groundbreaking sci-fi anime that has captured the attention of fans worldwide, featuring a stellar team behind its creation. Directed by Shinichirō Watanabe, the mastermind behind Cowboy Bebop, Lazarus is not a revival but a fresh, original narrative. The animation is brought to life by the renowned Mappa Studio, known for hits like Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen, in collaboration with Sola Entertainment, creators of Tower of God. Adding to the excitement, Chad Stahelski, the director of the John Wick series, has crafted the action sequences, promising thrilling visuals and dynamic fight scenes.
Given the buzz and intrigue surrounding Lazarus, it's no surprise that Adult Swim has secured the rights to air new episodes simultaneously in the U.S. and Japan. If you're eager to catch the latest episodes of Lazarus online, here's how you can do it.
In the year 2052, a miracle drug turns deadly, threatening humanity's extinction. A team of outlaws known as LAZARUS has just 30 days to save the world. Dive into this gripping series on Max, where new episodes of Lazarus will be available to stream the day after they air on Adult Swim. That means you can enjoy new episodes every Sunday on Max. Subscriptions start at $9.99 and can be bundled with Disney+ and Hulu for an enhanced viewing experience.
According to a Warner Bros. press release, subbed versions of Lazarus episodes will be available on Max 30 days after the dubbed episodes premiere.
Lazarus is set to air simultaneously in Japan and the United States. In the U.S., you can catch new dubbed episodes live on Adult Swim during its Toonami block on Saturday nights. If you don't have cable, you can still watch via live TV subscriptions like Hulu + Live TV, which offers a three-day free trial.
The first season of Lazarus will consist of 13 episodes, each airing live on Adult Swim before becoming available on Max. Episodes air at midnight (technically Sunday), but are considered part of Adult Swim's Saturday block. Here's the anticipated release schedule for Lazarus Season 1:
Lazarus stands out in the anime world as an entirely original series, not based on any existing manga. The official plot synopsis from the Lazarus website sets the stage:
In the year 2052, humanity enjoys an era of peace and prosperity thanks to a miracle cure-all drug called Hapuna, developed by Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist Dr. Skinner. However, three years later, Dr. Skinner returns with a dire warning: Hapuna has a short half-life, and everyone who has taken it will die within three years. In response, a special task force named "Lazarus" is assembled to find Skinner and develop a vaccine before time runs out.
Created by Shinichirō Watanabe, Lazarus boasts an impressive voice cast in both Japanese and English:
