Marvel Rivals is launching a major Spring Festival event this Thursday! Players can snag a free Star-Lord costume and jump into a brand-new game mode: Clash of Dancing Lions.

This 3v3 mode tasks teams with scoring a ball in the opposing goal. While comparisons to Rocket League are inevitable, the gameplay more closely mirrors Overwatch's Lucioball—itself inspired by Rocket League.

This similarity is noteworthy, as Marvel Rivals is currently outperforming Overwatch and needs unique content to establish its own identity. Ironically, its debut major event features a mode strikingly similar to Overwatch's inaugural special event. The key difference lies in the thematic presentation: Overwatch's event had an Olympic Games theme, while Marvel Rivals embraces a vibrant Chinese New Year atmosphere.
