Staying fit can be a challenge. Even if you love the feeling of your trainers hitting the pavement, it’s hard to deny that walking off weekend calories can sometimes feel like a chore. But Monster Walk, coming on October 9th, turns fitness into an exciting fantasy adventure.
You might recall our initial coverage of Monster Walk when it was first announced. Now, after players logged over 200 million steps during early access, everyone can dive into its epic RPG world.
Unlike GPS-based AR RPGs like those from Niantic, Monster Walk keeps it simple by tracking your steps. The more you walk, the stronger your characters become—and the deeper your bond grows with the mysterious monsters you'll battle and recruit along the way.

Monster Walk isn't built around a complex story or endless daily quests, but rather a gradual, rewarding progression—much like building a sustainable fitness habit. You won’t face off against other players, either, so there’s less pressure to dive in head-first.
That doesn’t mean the game is short on excitement. You’ll jump into fast-paced real-time battles, build your monster squad, and work to restore the broken world you explore.
All of that adds up to a surprisingly rich experience, making the idea of walking to get fit far more enticing.
Whether you plan to try Monster Walk later this month or not, stay tuned for the latest upcoming releases. For more great games on the horizon, check out our list of the best mobile titles in soft launch.
