Nintendo Ends 'Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp' Service

by Matthew Dec 30,2024

Nintendo Ends

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is shutting down! Nintendo's popular mobile game will end online services on November 28th, 2024, leaving many players surprised. This news comes just days before the game's seventh anniversary on November 21st.

The Shutdown Date:

Online services, including Leaf Ticket acquisition and Pocket Camp Club memberships, will cease on November 28th, 2024, at 7:00 AM PST. Auto-renewal for Pocket Camp Club memberships will stop on October 28th, with no refunds for existing memberships after that date (though a commemorative badge will be awarded). Your final chance to purchase Leaf Tickets is November 26th.

A Silver Lining: Offline Play:

While online functionality is ending, Nintendo plans to release a paid offline version of the game. This version will lack features like the Market Box, gifting, and visiting friends' campsites, but will allow players to retain their saved progress and enjoy the core gameplay experience without an internet connection. More details on this offline version are expected around October 2024.

Nintendo's Mobile Game Strategy:

This closure follows a pattern of Nintendo discontinuing mobile games, including Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost, and placing Mario Kart Tour in maintenance mode. The shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, therefore, isn't entirely unexpected.

To enjoy the game's final days, download Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp from the Google Play Store. Stay tuned for our next article on Netflix's Monument Valley 3!
