After Microsoft's layoffs resulted in Perfect Dark being canceled, protagonist Joanna Dark's voice actor Alix Wilton Regan encouraged fans to advocate for the game's continuation. On July 4, Regan addressed fan inquiries about another studio potentially salvaging the project in a social media post.

Regan, known for her roles in Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect 3, stated: "I HOPE WE LIVE IN A NICE WORLD," acknowledging the outpouring of fan interest. Following news of developer The Initiative's closure on July 3, Regan expressed solidarity with affected team members: "It's been an honor to work with the talents at The Initiative. My heart hurts for everyone affected by today. But like Joanna, we will all rise again."

Industry Veterans Voice Concerns About Project Cancellations

Co-star Elias Toufexis, cast in an undisclosed role, highlighted the precarious nature of game development on social media. The Deus Ex and Starfield actor revealed losing substantial income when the project was axed: "I had a good amount of days of acting in Perfect Dark that just got scrapped. Thousands of dollars that I expected and counted on gone in a snap."

Toufexis clarified subsequent fan interpretations: "The days I worked they pay me... But when you're working on a game they 'hold' you for x amount of days... You can't help but look at the holds and think about the $ that would have been made."

Perfect Dark Cast Responds to Game Cancellation

Xbox CEO Phil Spencer framed the decision as necessary for long-term success in an internal July 3 memo. Despite the setback, fans continue hoping another developer might rescue the Perfect Dark project.
