The Legion Tower 7 is Lenovo's flagship desktop, featuring a well-ventilated chassis with a mesh front panel and a total of six 120mm fans—including three for the 360mm liquid cooling system—to ensure optimal component temperatures. The system is supported by a generously oversized 1,200W power supply.
This model is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, a GeForce RTX 5090 32GB graphics card, a substantial 64GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 2TB PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD. The Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor achieves a maximum turbo frequency of 5.7GHz, with 24 cores and a 40MB L2 cache. Based on Passmark benchmarks, this represents Intel's top-tier gaming CPU, capable of competing directly with AMD's X3D processors. It is complemented by 64GB of DDR5 memory.
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has solidified its position as the most powerful consumer GPU available. While Nvidia has emphasized software enhancements, AI capabilities, and DLSS 4 technology to boost gaming performance, the RTX 5090 also delivers a notable 25%-30% improvement in raw, hardware-based raster performance over the RTX 4090. Additionally, the 5090 features more VRAM (32GB compared to 24GB) and utilizes faster GDDR7 memory instead of the GDDR6 found in the 4090.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas
"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially dethroned the RTX 4090, though the performance leap is more modest than in past generations. For traditional, non-AI gaming, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest performance increases in recent memory. However, in titles that support DLSS 4, the technology provides substantial frame rate gains—just be aware that a significant portion of those frames are AI-generated."
Lenovo Legion gaming PCs and laptops are generally recognized for their superior build quality compared to many other prebuilt systems. A key advantage for desktop PCs is that Lenovo avoids using proprietary components, making future upgrades with standard, off-the-shelf parts much simpler. While we haven't reviewed the new 2025 models yet, our assessment of last year's Legion 7 desktop was very positive, praising its solid construction and strong performance.
Lenovo Legion Tower 7i Review by Jacqueline Thomas
"The Lenovo Legion Tower 7i delivers incredible power for its price. If you're looking for a high-performance, upgradeable machine without the hassle of building it yourself, it's difficult to find a better gaming PC. Just remember to uninstall the pre-loaded McAfee software upon first boot."
