As 2024 draws to a close, Niantic is celebrating the arrival of 2025 in Pokémon Go with a special New Year's event. This precedes the Fidough Fetch event and the highly anticipated Sprigatito Community Day, and kicks off the January Eggs-pedition Access, part of the Dual Destiny season. The Eggs-pedition Access, running from January 1st to 31st, offers a wealth of in-game benefits for $4.99. This includes a significant upgrade to the Gift system, allowing players to hold up to 40 Gifts, open 50 daily, and collect 150 from PokéStops.

What's in Store for the Pokémon Go New Year's Event?

The Pokémon Go New Year's 2025 event runs from December 30th, 2024, at 10:00 am to January 1st, 2025, at 8:00 pm. While there are no new Pokémon, Shiny variants, or costumes, the event still offers plenty of festive fun.

Expect to encounter wild Jigglypuff with ribbons, Hoothoot in New Year's attire, and Wurmple sporting party hats – all with a chance to be Shiny. Event bonuses include a generous 2,025 XP for Excellent Throws and celebratory fireworks. Raids will feature a snowflake-wearing Pikachu (Tier One) and party-hat-adorned Raticate and Wobbuffet (Tier Three), also with increased Shiny rates. Don't forget to check Field Research tasks and PokéStop Showcases for more themed Pokémon encounters.
