Rocksteady Studios, the creator of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, announced further layoffs in late 2024, impacting programmers, artists, and testers. This follows September's layoffs which halved the testing team.
The studio faced significant challenges in 2024, struggling to maintain Suicide Squad despite its poor reception and reported $200 million in losses for Warner Bros. No further updates are planned for 2025, though servers will remain active.
These job cuts weren't isolated to Rocksteady; Games Montreal, another Warner Bros. studio, also laid off 99 employees in December.
The game's early access launch exacerbated the situation. Players encountered numerous bugs, including server outages and a major storyline spoiler. Negative reviews from prominent gaming publications contributed to a massive 791% surge in refund requests, according to McLuck analytics.
Rocksteady's future projects remain unannounced.
