Ryan Reynolds in Early Talks for Deadpool and X-Men Film

by Amelia May 04,2025

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in the "early stages" of developing a new film that would bring together Deadpool and several X-Men characters. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this project would be an ensemble film where Deadpool, while still a key character, would not be the sole focus. Instead, Reynolds envisions the film spotlighting three or four other X-Men, using them in "unexpected ways" to drive the narrative.

This proposed movie would be distinct from the X-Men film being developed by Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie. Reynolds, known for nurturing his ideas independently before presenting them to Marvel, follows a similar creative process as he did with Deadpool & Wolverine, which initially was conceived as a low-budget road trip movie.

While this isn't the first time Reynolds has been linked to an ensemble Deadpool project, this report provides new insights into the potential direction of the film. As for which X-Men might join Deadpool, the possibilities are wide open. Deadpool has previously interacted with various X-Men characters and their adversaries in his films, including Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and even Channing Tatum's Gambit.
