Sonic Rumble has yet to make its global debut, but it's already making waves with its inaugural crossover event, dubbed Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars. This exciting event is currently live and will continue until May 7th, just ahead of the game's worldwide launch scheduled for May 8th.
Currently in soft launch, Sonic Rumble is accessible in over 40 countries. It kicked off its first pre-launch phase in Summer 2024 in regions such as the Philippines, the Scandinavian countries, and Colombia. The second pre-launch phase extended to Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa, and additional regions.
If you're lucky enough to be in a region where Sonic Rumble soft-launched last year, you can jump right into the SEGA Stars crossover. The event brings back the Altered Beast crew, offering the Werewolf transformation for free. Nostalgic fans can also grab the Werebear and Weredragon, though availability varies. The Weredragon is exclusive to the Premium Pass, while the Werebear can be purchased with regular rings.
The crossover also features characters from Fantasy Zone, with Opa-Opa and Upa-Upa joining the fray. Opa-Opa is accessible through the Premium Pass, and Upa-Upa can be obtained by collecting fragments, which are available for 700 standard rings each.
Adding to the excitement, AiAi and MeeMee from Super Monkey Ball have made their way into Sonic Rumble. AiAi is available for 729 Red Star Rings. You can get a closer look at the event by watching the video below.
Participants can earn additional rewards by collecting SEGA logos during matches. While it may seem odd for the event to go live before the global release, SEGA has assured fans that most of these pre-release rewards will be available again in the future.
The first crossover event for Sonic Rumble is a thrilling dive into SEGA's rich history, blending iconic characters from various franchises. This integration of monkeys, sentient arcade ships, and transformed beasts alongside Sonic and his friends hints at the game's promising future.
You can download Sonic Rumble from the Google Play Store now, or wait for its global release on May 8th in your region.
