Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon Digs its Way Out of Netflix Games
Netflix Games users will soon be saying goodbye to Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon. Developer Yacht Club Games announced the game's departure from the Netflix platform, clarifying that it will remain accessible on other platforms including Steam, Switch, and PlayStation 4.
While this news may disappoint Netflix subscribers who discovered the game through the service, Yacht Club Games offered a glimmer of hope, stating they are exploring additional distribution options. A standalone mobile release is a strong possibility, although a precise timeframe remains unclear.

The Perils of Subscription Gaming
The removal highlights a key risk inherent in subscription gaming services: reduced user ownership. Unlike traditional game purchases, subscription-based access leaves players vulnerable to game removals, relying entirely on the developer's future plans for continued access.
Yacht Club Games has indicated they are pursuing alternative avenues, suggesting a potential return in the future, perhaps in 2025. However, any such return remains uncertain.
In the meantime, numerous other gaming options are readily available. Check out our latest list of top mobile games for some exciting alternatives!
