Xbox Booth to Feature Silksong Among Major Titles

Hollow Knight: Silksong will make its first ever public demo appearance at Gamescom 2025. According to Microsoft's July 28 announcement on Xbox Wire, the game will be showcased at Xbox's booth from August 20 24 during the Cologne gaming convention.

The demo will be playable on both PC and the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally X handheld device. This collaboration between Xbox and Asus was first revealed during Summer Game Fest 2025, where Silksong was confirmed as a playable title.

The ROG Xbox Ally X features an Xbox interface with access to Game Pass, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Battle.net libraries. Set for a holiday 2025 release, this portable gaming device will launch alongside Silksong, one of the most eagerly awaited titles in recent years.

While Xbox hasn't specified the demo's content length, fans are thrilled to see tangible progress toward the game's eventual release.

The Road to Release

The game made a brief appearance during Nintendo's Switch 2 showcase, confirming a 2025 release window while maintaining its original Switch compatibility. More excitement followed when Australia's ACMI museum announced a September 18 demo would be part of their Game Worlds exhibition.

Steam database updates in May after 15 months of inactivity further fueled speculation about an imminent shadow drop, though this didn't materialize.

Summer Game Fest 2025 brought unexpected Silksong visibility when Deadpool VR jokingly referenced it during its showcase. Xbox later confirmed the game would be available at the ROG Ally X's launch and on Game Pass, though Team Cherry clarified this wasn't an exclusive arrangement.
