As we start the year a bevvy of great releases are already hitting storefronts. And developer and publisher Rebellion is no exception, as the hotly-anticipated release of Sniper Elite 4 for iOS is finally here! What's it got in store for you as it hits iPhone and iPad? Let's find out!

Sniper Elite 4 sees you take on the role of an elite special operations sniper named Karl Fairburne as he battles across pre-invasion Italy during World War Two. As with many other releases in the series, you won't just be assassinating top Nazi officials and sabotaging their war effort, but also dismantling a secret weapons project that could prolong the war by years.

As with other entries in the series, Sniper Elite 4 boasts a huge variety of weapons, gadgets and more with which to dispatch your enemies. Whether that's your handy sniper rifle, submachine guns or pistols, you'll sneak and shoot your way through heavily guarded enemy compounds while using the signature x-ray cam to view your handiwork.

It seems that Apple's move to push for bigger and better releases on their new, more powerful devices wasn't all promotional tactics. Rebellion now joins companies like Capcom in bringing relatively recent entries in popular series to iOS that capitalise on the new capabilities of the latest generation of iPhones and iPads.

Quality-wise Rebellion seem to hope that near console-quality graphics and redesigned controls will be enough to win over fans. The universal purchase feature, which means you can play across iPhone, iPad and Mac with a single fee, is sure to be a great selling point, while MetalFX upscaling hopes to contribute precise optimisation.
