Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, the upcoming kart racer from Sega and Sonic Team, promises the largest roster in series history, boasting iconic characters from the Sonic and Sega universes. A recent PlayStation.blog post revealed exciting new gameplay mechanics and features.

A Massive Roster of Beloved Characters

The game will feature at least 23 characters at launch, with more to come. Confirmed characters include Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, the Sonic Riders (Jet, Wave, Storm), the Deadly Six (Zavok, Zazz), Team Dark (Shadow, Rouge, E-123 Omega), Dr. Eggman, his creations (Egg Pawn, Metal Sonic), and the Chaotix (Vector, Charmy, Espio). Blaze, Silver, Cream, and Big round out the currently revealed lineup.

Dynamic Racing with CrossWorlds

Prepare for a revolutionary racing experience! Travel Rings will transport racers between 15 distinct CrossWorlds in real-time, transforming the race environment dramatically. Each CrossWorld offers a unique theme park-style setting with unexpected challenges, including giant monsters, tricky obstacles, and stunning scenery. The 24 main tracks will also feature dynamic changes throughout each lap, adding an extra layer of strategic depth, reminiscent of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

Extensive Customization and Power-Ups

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds offers unparalleled vehicle customization. Players can tweak their vehicles extensively, modifying front and rear parts, wheels, colors, tire glow, cockpit details, and more. In addition to 45 unique vehicles, the return of Extreme Gear from Sonic Riders allows for hoverboard-based racing. Strategic gameplay is further enhanced by 23 different gadgets, offering diverse power-ups to optimize racing styles. Sonic Creative Officer Takashi Iizuka calls the game "a great culmination of all the Sonic Racing series games to date."
