Stalker 2: For Science! Side Quest Walkthrough

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will stumble upon various NPCs, triggering quests ranging from small tasks to substantial side missions like "For Science!". This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. It's a short quest rewarding players with a Malachite pass for access to the STC Malachite facility.

1. Initiating the "For Science!" Quest:

To begin, locate Yaryk Mongoose in the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Approaching the location triggers a radio call between Mongoose and Skif. Head left past the conveyor belts, ascend the rusty stairs, vault the railing, and speak with Mongoose on the first floor. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo. Agreeing to his request starts the mission.

2. Reaching the Silo's Summit:

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Dispatch any rodents, then climb through a broken window and descend the exterior ladder to the silo walkways. Equip your bolt-action weapon to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to activate the device.

Activating the device attracts Bloodsuckers. Players can eliminate them or evade them to reach Mongoose.

3. Confronting Yaryk Mongoose:

Upon reaching Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward peacefully. Neither choice impacts the game significantly. Killing him allows looting the Malachite pass; choosing the peaceful option yields the pass and coupons. The pass grants entry to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible via main missions.
