Tekken 8 Boss Attempts Waffle House Crossover, Fails

by Bella May 14,2025

For some time now, Tekken fans have been vocal about their desire to see a Waffle House stage in the game. While it may sound like a whimsical request, the enthusiasm has not gone unnoticed by Tekken 8's director, Katsuhiro Harada. Despite his interest, securing a collaboration with Waffle House has proven challenging.

On X/Twitter, Harada responded to fans still eagerly pushing for the Waffle House stage in Tekken 8. The demand has grown significantly, fueled in part by Harada's own curiosity and engagement with the idea.

Harada expressed a deep understanding of the fans' requests, indicating that he's not only considered the concept but has actively pursued it. "Over the past year or more, I've actually tried to make contact through several different channels," Harada shared on X/Twitter. He speculated that the lack of response might be due to the association of his projects with 'fighting-themed video games,' which could be a deterrent for Waffle House.

Play"However, and this is purely my own speculation, I suspect that the lack of response may be due to the fact that the project I'm known for revolves around 'fighting-themed video games,'" Harada explained.

To be honest, within the bounds of what I can say, I fully understand your (you guys) request—that's precisely why I had considered taking on this challenge. In fact, I had already been thinking about it quite a while ago.

Harada noted that receiving "no response" is a rare occurrence for him. He also mentioned that if using a different name or format is acceptable, as long as "the core message is maintained," he would be open to revisiting the idea. This suggests that while an actual Waffle House might not make it into Tekken 8, a parody or in-universe equivalent could be possible. Harada even floated the idea of "Hustle House" as a potential alternative.

It appears that fans won't see Kazuya and Jin battling it out under the iconic yellow glow of a Waffle House sign anytime soon. However, the door remains open for creative solutions.

Meanwhile, Tekken 8 is rolling out Patch 2.01, following the announcement of Fahkumram's addition to the roster. In response to fan feedback on Tekken 8's Season 2, Harada assured that the tuning team is working diligently to incorporate player suggestions and improve the game.
