Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has revealed the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual Xbox Developer Direct event, and the first game showcase of the new year. The event follows the successful January 2023 and 2024 showcases, solidifying this as a key date in the Xbox release calendar. Rumors circulating around January 9th have finally been confirmed with the official announcement.

The 2025 Xbox Developer Direct is set to begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT and will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.

Confirmed Games:

The showcase will feature a trio of exciting titles:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), targeting a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: id Software's latest entry in the iconic Doom franchise, initially unveiled in June 2024 and playable at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 release is currently speculated.
  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (Canada), the creators of Contrast and We Happy Few. Announced in June 2023, a release date is anticipated at this showcase.

Beyond the Confirmed Lineup:

While these three games are confirmed, previous Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and showcased multiple titles. The 2024 event highlighted games like Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. Expect the possibility of further unannounced titles and surprises during the January 23rd broadcast.
