Assassin's Creed Shadows' Release Pushed Back to March 20, 2025

Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, moving the release date from February 14, 2025, to March 20, 2025. This decision, according to Ubisoft, aims to further refine the game based on player feedback. The game was initially slated for a November 2024 release but faced its first postponement in September 2024.

The September delay, which shifted the launch date by three months, was initially attributed to unspecified reasons cited as being "in the best interest of the game." Subsequent reports suggested internal development challenges related to historical accuracy. However, this latest delay is explicitly linked to incorporating player feedback.

Marc-Alexis Coté, vice president executive producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, stated on the official website that the team is committed to delivering a high-quality and immersive experience, emphasizing ongoing communication with players. He reiterated that the extra time will be used to refine and polish the game.

Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and promised free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. Whether similar compensation will be offered for this shorter delay remains unannounced.

This latest postponement might also be connected to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to enhance its player-centric approach. The company experienced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year, partly due to underwhelming sales figures. Prioritizing player feedback through this delay could be part of Ubisoft's strategy to improve its game development process.
