The developer recently released a video and a Battlefield Labs Community Update to give fans a glimpse of what to expect. This level of destruction opens up creative gameplay possibilities. In the Community Update, DICE explained that they are enhancing gameplay depth by allowing players to alter the environment. "We're designing destruction around easily identifiable visual and audio language that lets you understand what can be destroyed, altered, or transformed through gameplay," DICE stated. "We aim to make destruction an integral part of your Battlefield experience to create an intuitive, fun, and rewarding environment where you feel empowered to shape the world around you."

Various methods will affect structures differently; while explosives can cause significant damage, even bullets can chip away at walls, allowing players to shoot through them. Additionally, audio and visual effects will provide feedback, indicating when destruction efforts are effective.

The aftermath of destruction will have lasting impacts on the battlefield. For instance, rubble from a destroyed building section can remain, serving as potential cover for players. It's clear that the next Battlefield game, often referred to as "Battlefield 6," is heavily focused on enhancing the destruction mechanics.

While not much has been officially confirmed, some gameplay leaks have emerged and received positive feedback from the Battlefield community. The game is set in a modern era and is slated for release within Electronic Arts' fiscal year 2026, spanning from April 2025 to March 2026. However, release dates could shift depending on moves by major competitors in the industry.
