Games Workshop Boosts Staff with $27M Bonus Amid Success

by Riley May 24,2025

The boom time continues at Warhammer 40,000 maker Games Workshop, which has announced it’s handing out £20 million (approx. $27 million) to its staff as a bonus. The Nottingham, UK-based company behind the Warhammer tabletop games and their expansive settings reported that for the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, its core revenue reached £560 million, up from £494.7 million in the previous period. Licensing revenue also saw a significant increase, rising to £50 million from £31 million. Core profit soared to £210 million from £174.8 million, while licensing profit climbed to £45 million from £27 million. This translates to a profit before tax of £255 million, up from £203 million.

Fueled by these impressive financial results and "in recognition of our staff’s contribution to these results," Games Workshop is distributing £20 million to its employees, an increase from the £18 million bonus given out the previous year. The funds will be distributed equally among staff members. With an estimated workforce of around 1,500, this means each employee is set to receive a bonus of £13,333 (approximately $18,000).

Games Workshop's primary business involves selling miniatures that fans assemble and paint for use in tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000. However, the company is increasingly becoming an IP powerhouse, generating substantial revenue from successful video games such as last year’s Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and animations like Amazon’s Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. Last year, Games Workshop and Amazon finalized a deal for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, which will involve the creation of films and television series. Additionally, Space Marine 3 is currently in development.

Looking ahead, Games Workshop acknowledges that the record levels of licensing revenue achieved during this period are not expected to be repeated in 2025/26, though licensing remains a key focus. The popularity of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer as a whole continues to grow, and these results indicate no signs of slowing down.

Games Workshop recently held its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, featuring exciting announcements and trailers. Key highlights included the Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and a new Siege mode for Space Marine 2.
