Netflix Games is losing two classic Grand Theft Auto titles next month. Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be removed from the Netflix Games catalog on December 13th.
Why are these games leaving?
This isn't a surprise move; Netflix licenses games like it does movies and TV shows. The 12-month licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games for these two titles is expiring. A "Leaving Soon" label will appear on the games before their removal.
What happens after December 13th?
After the 13th, Netflix subscribers will no longer have access to GTA III and Vice City through the Netflix Games platform. However, fans can still purchase these titles individually or as part of a trilogy bundle on the Google Play Store for Android devices.
Future Possibilities:
While GTA III and Vice City are departing, there's speculation that Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on bringing remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and even Chinatown Wars to the platform in the future.
This departure differs from last year's removal of games like Samurai Shodown V and WrestleQuest, as Netflix is providing advance notice. It's interesting to note that the GTA trilogy's presence significantly contributed to Netflix Games' subscriber growth in 2023.
