Mortal Kombat Unveils Epic T-1000 Gameplay, Surprise Guest Character Revealed

by Charlotte Feb 25,2025

NetherRealm Studios unleashes T-1000 and Madam Bo in Mortal Kombat 1 DLC.

Get ready for some liquid metal mayhem! NetherRealm has unveiled gameplay footage of the T-1000, the final DLC character for the Khaos Reigns expansion. The footage showcases a range of attacks reminiscent of Terminator 2, including blade and hook arm maneuvers similar to Baraka and Kabal. A particularly striking move involves transforming into a liquid metal blob before launching a devastating uppercut, echoing Killer Instinct's Glacius. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, provides the voice and likeness, making his debut in a showdown against Johnny Cage. The trailer culminates in a brutal Fatality recreating the iconic Terminator 2 truck chase scene.

Adding to the excitement, NetherRealm surprised fans with the announcement of Madam Bo as a new Kameo fighter, launching alongside the T-1000. This popular character from the base game's story mode will be a valuable asset in combat. A brief glimpse of Madam Bo's gameplay is shown in the trailer, both during a pre-match scene and as an assist for the T-1000.

The T-1000 will be available March 18th for early access via Khaos Reigns, with general release on March 25th. Madam Bo arrives on March 18th as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or a separate purchase.

The T-1000 concludes the Khaos Reigns DLC lineup, following Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Speculation about a potential third DLC pack or Kombat Pack 3 persists, fueled by questions surrounding Mortal Kombat 1's sales performance. However, Warner Bros. Discovery's commitment to the franchise remains strong, with CEO David Zaslav highlighting Mortal Kombat as one of four key titles for future development.

Madam Bo is coming to Mortal Kombat 1 as a Kameo fighter.

Ed Boon, NetherRealm's creative director, previously confirmed the studio's next project was decided three years ago, while promising continued support for Mortal Kombat 1. While many anticipate a third installment in the Injustice series, official confirmation is pending. Boon cited the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to Unreal Engine 4 as contributing factors to the decision to develop another Mortal Kombat title before returning to Injustice. However, he explicitly stated that the Injustice franchise is not closed.
