Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0 nerfs are being rolled back after player backlash. A hotfix, Patch 4.1, will revert the most significant changes starting October 24th. This follows negative Steam reviews and community outcry.

Reverted Nerfs and Public Test Servers

Developer Saber Interactive acknowledged the negative reaction to Patch 4.0, which increased enemy spawns, making the game too difficult even on lower settings. In response to player feedback, they're not only reverting these changes but also announced plans for public test servers launching around early 2025.

Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko stated that the "most pressing" balance changes will be undone. This includes adjustments to Extremis enemy spawn rates across difficulty levels; a significant reduction on Ruthless difficulty, a 10% armor increase for players on Ruthless, and a 30% damage buff for bots against bosses.

Bolt Weapon Buffs and Ongoing Monitoring

Patch 4.1 also includes substantial buffs to Bolt weapons, addressing their underperformance. The specific damage increases are as follows:

  • Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
  • Bolt Rifle: +10%
  • Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
  • Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
  • Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
  • Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
  • Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
  • Bolt Carbine: +15%
  • Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
  • Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)

Saber Interactive will continue to monitor player feedback after Patch 4.1's release to ensure the game's difficulty remains appropriately challenging. The introduction of public test servers in 2025 aims to further refine the balance and incorporate player input more effectively moving forward.
