Vampire Survivors Confirms PlayStation Release Update

Poncle, the UK-based developer behind the popular roguelike, Vampire Survivors, has offered a further update on the game's upcoming PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 releases. Both the latest expansion and a recent update for Vampire Survivors launched in May.

Initially released in December 2021, Vampire Survivors is a top-down shooter where players face seemingly endless waves of enemies. Following its successful launch and a Nintendo Switch port, a PS4 and PS5 release was announced in April for Summer 2024. With summer now underway in the UK, Poncle has provided an update.

While a precise release date for the PS4 and PS5 versions remains unannounced, Poncle assures players it will be revealed shortly, according to recent Twitter posts. The development team explains the extended timeframe is due to navigating the PlayStation submission process for the first time. They are also meticulously working on the PlayStation Trophies system, aiming for a polished achievement experience consistent with the over 200 achievements available on the Steam version of the highly-rated game.

Poncle's transparency has been well-received, with many Twitter users expressing gratitude and anticipation for the opportunity to earn a platinum trophy upon the game's release. Platinum trophies, awarded for completing all achievements, are highly sought-after by PlayStation gamers.

The Operation Guns DLC, a Vampire Survivors expansion based on Konami's Contra franchise, debuted on May 9th. This addition introduced new Contra-inspired biomes, 11 characters, 22 fully automatic weapons, and classic Contra music. A subsequent hotfix, 1.10.105, released on May 16th, addressed bugs in both the base game and the Operation Guns DLC.
